Basketball Ballarat $10 Million funding boost

Ballarat’s basketball community can celebrate a big win following the announcement by Senator Jane Hume conforming the association has been successful in the latest funding round of the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).

The funding announcement was the final piece of the puzzle to realise the $23.4 million needed to transform the stadium into one of the state's best sporting facilities. The new stadium is set to become a prominent player in securing major sports events of national significance, a real boost for the region.

Ballarat Basketball’s CEO Peter Eddy said the full vision for the stadium could now be realised thanks to the hard work of Ballarat community and all levels of government.

“Senator Hume’s efforts along with the significant bi-partisan support the project has received from all levels of Government and from all members of Parliament has helped to keep the bid team motivated to seek funding,” Eddy said. “The Ballarat Sovereigns and Ballarat Badminton Association, along with the broader basketball and netball communities, have all worked hard to help achieve this vision.” Eddy also paid praise to the City of Ballarat's concerted efforts and commitment to the funding application process.

SED provided economic modelling to Basketball Ballarat as part of the funding application and are proud to be part of improving community infrastructure to be enjoyed well into the future.
