Connecting the regional commute

Ballarat to Melbourne commuters will be better connected with the rollout of mobile phone signal boosters on V-Line train carriages. Reception boosters have been installed in a quarter of the fleet with the full rollout expected to be completed by the end of 2018. The Ballarat line is one of five regional train services to receive the connectivity upgrade along with Geelong, Bendigo, Traralgon and Seymour. The Victorian Government has partnered with telecommunications networks Telstra, Vodafone and Optus for the $18 million Regional Rail Connectivity Project which will see the construction of 35 new mobile phone towers providing improved commuter connectivity.
