Ballarat Show is on the move
It's been in the works for many years and finally it's been announced.
The Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral Society has made public their intentions to relocate the Showgrounds to Federation University's Mount Rowan campus.
BAPS were attracted by the existing modern infrastructure and available space which would allow all show events to occur at the one location. Over recent years due to encroaching sporting facilities on the existing site, equestrian events have been held off-site at the Ballarat Airport polo field which disjointed the show day's activities.
The State Government has committed $5 million to BAPS for the development of the modern multi-purpose Showgrounds on the 16.2-hectate site. The new Showgrounds will better service for the needs of the Ballarat Community with an events precinct set to attract large-scale events, similar to the Showgrounds in Bendigo, Adelaide and Melbourne whilst enabling BAPS to start the next chapter in their long and prestigious legacy of over 160 years.
