$2 Million funding for lake repair

In regional towns, recreational assets can play a significant role in community health and wellbeing whilst supporting local economy. For many years the Mallee town of Sea Lake has enjoyed these benefits provided by Green Lake. Locals would spend much of their recreation time on the lake and it also drew tourists to visit helping with economic input. For 15 years, the lake has been a dry crater impacted with seepage issues and the long suffering millennial drought. The lake was in need of repair to rejuvenate a much-loved community asset.

SED completed the Green Lake Remediation Business Case for Buloke Shire Council which provided detailed solution options for the issues facing Green Lake. Recently, Water Minister, Lisa Neville visited the town of Donald to announce funding for a range of regional water projects including Green Lake repair works. Buloke Shire Council was successful in its funding bid for $2million to commence repair works to maintain lake levels for continued public use. Green Lake is an important asset for the local community and SED is pleased to take part in bringing the lake back to its former glory.
